Friday Dinners Served with Love

     When we gather for dinners on Friday evenings, we know we’re going to have a good meal and some friendly conversation.

But we didn’t know that on the Fridays when Perfect Timing Caterering serves, we also get a wonderful dinner backed by a love story.

Owners Jordan Jackson and Elise Chamberlain were both restaurant veterans before they founded Perfect Timing, which provides catering and private chef  services. Jordan has worked at many well regarded Portland restaurants including Terra Lingua, Boones, the Front Room, Hot Suppa, and David’s Monument Square. “I found my love for cooking doing the dishes and the prep,” Jordan says. Restaurant owner Harding Lee Smith recognized his talent and later gave him a great offer to cook on the day shift at the Front Room. (Restaurant workers love to get off night shift.)

Along the way Elise and Jordan worked together at several places. They’d take breaks and smoke together outside the restaurants. After years of being friends, Elise asked, “Do you want to talk about feelings?” Jordan had an instant answer: “I said I love you.”

Later they worked for a caterer who had a health emergency. They completed the catering jobs that were already lined up. When that went well, they decided to go into business. Last year they did 71 events, including 9 weddings, corporate events, and 24 public pop-ups.

Jordan picked potatoes as a boy in Aroostook County. On his death bed his grandfather told him that in order to make a living he should head for the coast. He and a friend each saved $500 and found a cheap place in Old Orchard Beach. His first jobs in the area were washing dishes, but he progressed in the kitchens of southern Maine.

Jordan and Elise come to us via our kitchen, which we rent to several caterers and food truck operators. They also have a plan to expand their private chef services.
